Junior Golf

Welcome to Junior Golf

Market Harborough Golf Club has a flourishing Junior Section of over 110 members run by our Junior Golf Organiser Jane Burley in conjunction with our Professional Kegan Jamieson and a number of volunteers. We aim to offer the chance to have fun, learn and play golf in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Boys and girls participate on an equal basis and are offered experienced coaching and competitive opportunities. Our juniors have the opportunity to use our clubhouse, practice facilities, Simulator, 5 Hole Academy Course and the main golf course (subject to ability and handicap) as well as the chance to play on our 9 Reciprocal courses, Junior and Senior competitions and inter club matches.

Junior can also apply for a Members Bar Card which can be used to purchase soft drinks, food from the Bar and goods from the Pro Shop. We find this gives Parents/Cares the peace of mind that their children do not have to carry cash when they are at the Club.

Junior Captain – Oliver Goodman

I am proud to be the 2024/25 junior captain, and I am excited for the coming golf season.

I am 17 years old and have been playing golf for 3 years. In this time, I have reduced my handicap from 40 to 6.

At the club, I have won several men’s and junior competitions which is a proud achievement of mine. My enjoyment of club competition led me to play in the Shire Tour and Leicestershire and Rutland County events. Last year I won the Shires Tour grand final which gave me the opportunity to play with LPGA star Charley Hull. This was a great experience for me, and I was able to gain many tips and encouragement to further improve my game.

I look forward to welcoming new juniors to the club. I hope many of which will play in junior competitions so they can gain valuable experience and most importantly have fun. Alongside this, I also hope that I can lead the junior league team to a successful year.

I will be around to help and encourage all juniors, and I wish the best for the coming golf season.

Coaching and Learning to Play

Our PGA Professional Kegan Jamieson runs a fantastic Junior Academy with over 85 juniors involved. He offers group and individual coaching sessions throughout the year. Group coaching sessions for beginners and more experienced players take place on:

Saturdays: 9 – 10am, 10 -11am. 11-12am and 12-1pm at £30pm. There are a maximum of 12 juniors in each group with two coaches.

Come and Join Us

We welcome applications from all junior boys and girls (up to 18 years old) whether they are new to the game, beginners, or more experienced players.

The membership fee for a year is £45.

We also welcome you, the parents. We want you to be involved and you are welcome to use our clubhouse facilities either as you wait during your son/daughters coaching or for a meal and a drink!
