Dress Code & General Guidelines

At Market Harborough Golf Club we take pride in maintaining the traditions of golf while ensuring members and visitors feel welcome and comfortable.  Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with our standards for both the course and the clubhouse.


On the Course & Practice Facilities

The same dress standards apply  on the course, putting green, chipping green, short course and covered practice area.

Trousers & Shorts

  • Must be tailored
  • Cargo, workwear, jogging bottoms, tracksuit bottoms, cut-off denim, camouflage, cycling, gym, running or beach shorts are  not permitted

Shirts

  • Traditional collared golf shirts or  branded golf-specific collarless shirts are permitted
  • Everyday round-neck t-shirts, capped-sleeve t-shirts, and vests are  not permitted
  • Shirts should preferable be tucked in. (Unless designed to be worn outside)

Hoodies

  • Allowed if they are  golf-branded hoodies. Workwear hoodies are not permitted

Footwear

  • Golf shoes with soft spikes or pimple soles must be worn
  • Training shoes are not permitted

Socks

  • Sports, trainer, or ankle socks are acceptable

Headwear

  • Caps must be worn with the peak facing forwards

General Rule

  • Clothing from other sports (e.g. football, rugby, athletics) is not permitted

Equipment and Competency

  • Each golfer must play with their  own clubs and bags - sharing equipment is not allowed
  • Visitors must be competent golfers preferably with a  WHS Handicap
  • Our course is challenging; players deemed not suitably competent may be asked to leave for the safety and enjoyment of others

Clubhouse Attire

  • Acceptable:  Smart golf attire or smart casual clothing
  • Not allowed: Flip flops, waterproofs, caps/headwear (except for medical or religious reasons), muddy footwear
  • Golf shoes:  Clean, spikeless golf shoes may be worn in the clubhouse during summer months

Mobile Phone Use

  • Phones must be kept on  silent mode inside the clubhouse
  • Usage is restricted to the locker rooms, patio, or car park and should only be used in the clubhouse for emergency calls

By following these guidelines across the  course, practice areas and clubhouse we ensure MHGC remains respectful of golfing tradition while welcoming to all.
